Reading One

Chapter One was rather interesting and helpful for me personally. Specifically in the breakdown of seperating applied art and fine art, the strengths and weaknesses of both text and image, and explaining the process of picking an illustration idea. The breakdown of the two images on page 12 was beneficial. It had two images but asked various questions about the origination, purpose, context, audience, etc. of each. Breaking down any image with this process creates an easier understanding of why it exists and if you as an illustrator are on the right path. I also enjoyed how chapter one reiterated the fact that communication is the key goal of illustration. Whatever it is you create, it serves a specific purpose, something we've learned since the beginning of classs.
